So I have seen a lot of posts recently about taking a picture a day for a whole year. I think this is a really interesting concept because not only does it push you to take more pictures but it also makes you do something positive. I think that I will make this one of my new years resolutions for 2008 but I have some concerns and questions.

  • Sticking to it: One of my goals is to write a post to this blog every day for 2008 and even that seems like it is going to be difficult but writing a blog post takes a significant amount of time. I have to think of a topic, write it, read over it, and re-read it for errors. I’m going to work as hard as I can at doing this and so far I haven’t been doing so well. I think I will be easier to take a picture because it only involves five seconds and I carry my point and shoot everywhere. I guess after I get into the grove it will be easier but we will have to see. I just worried that it will become another burden when classes start back up and I have too much to do.
  • Displaying them: What if I take a quick picture and it is horrible but I don’t get around to taking another. Do I still say I took a picture every day or do I say I missed that one? Also, how often do I display them? Do I post one picture a week or do I post seven every Sunday?
  • Short Term Goals: Do I just have one goal to do this or do I break it up by week? This would make me feel like I’m getting more done and then I can slowly mark them off as I go.

If anybody is interested in joining me let me know. We can make a Flickr Group or something.
