I just found an interesting post on SolveClimate.com via Digg about how a company has been able to produce solar panels that would make solar cheaper than coal. The company, Nanosolar, has been able to produce three of these solar panels. The process was interesting because they focused on how to reduce the manufacturing costs of the panel instead of improving the output. Apparently they are creating the panel by pressing the panel out on aluminum but didn’t get into the details of how that works. This is a really great step forward in making solar cells more approachable to the common person. The article didn’t go into when the panel would be introduced but I hope it’s soon.
The best part is that they are selling one of the panels on eBay and can be found at: http://cgi.ebay.com/…
