So I have been really interested in getting Amazon’s Kindle after it came out last month. I have been interested in eBook technology for a while. I used to download eBooks to my Palm when I still had it but the Kindle takes it into a new direction. The Kindle has support for magazines, newspapers, and blogs which are downloaded automatically to the Kindle everyday. It also has over 80,000 books currently in the Kindle store which should keep me busy for a while. The thing I like most is that I won’t have the hundreds of books that I currently own just sitting around taking up space. Because the Kindle has the support of Amazon’s CEO I don’t think there is any chance that this product is going to die off any time soon.
The problem with the Kindle is the up front price. The Kindle costs $399 and for most people this isn’t an amount of money they can just drop on an eBook reader. Amazon has a way to sell used books on their website and maybe I can sell my old books in order to purchase the Kindle. I think this would really help me because my old books would see some use and I would get rid of them.
