Yesterday for the first time EVER my desktop has nothing on it except for the recycle bin! I read a blog post over a Coding Horror about not using your desktop as a destination (link) and he mentioned having a “sea of icon” which was a good explanation of my desktop. I started thinking about how I shouldn’t be storing files on my desktop because there isn’t any organization at all. So my goal has become to keep the desktop completely clean and all my files organized into folders in my home folder (where it gets backed up). I guess I will have to see how things go over the next week or so but I’m going to need to figure out a way to keep myself from just dumping the files into a different folder somewhere else on my computer. Does anyone know of a good program that checks folders to make sure there aren’t files specific directories?
