It seems like everyone has their own guesses as to happening on the Island and I just wanted to get my guesses out there. For those of you who don’t know yet but the season 4 premier of Lost was on last night and like every season premier we were left with at least 3.25 questions for every answer we got last night. One of the things that continued from the finale last spring is that we saw another flash forward. It involved Hurley freaking out because he thought that he saw Charley off the island (after he was dead) and getting thrown into an asylum. While he was in the hospital a representative from Oceanic showed up and asked him if there were others left on the island. Given the lack of Jack’s beard this flash forward occurs before the season 3 finale flash forward.

On the island, two groups formed up. One that trusted Jack and another that trusted Locke (didn’t this happen before?) due to Charley’s warning about the boat. Jacob’s cabin made another appearance in a strange situation that made me wonder if Hurley might have some of Walt’s powers. At the very end someone from the boat parachuted onto the island.

We got a lot of information from the events last night:

  1. We know there were six survivors taken off the island: We know for sure Kate, Jack and Hurley got off the island. Locke wasn’t one of them because he has struggled to stay ON island for the last season and I don’t think he would willingly leave. One of the six was in the casket at the end of season 3 and it was Jack or Kate for Obvious reasons and I don’t think it was Hurley because at the very least his mother would have shown up.
  2. People who get off the island feel the need to get back to the island: Jack and Hurley have both expressed this need in the last two shows. For some reason Kate didn’t but she only had a few lines in the flash forward so maybe she is just hiding it.
  3. It’s hard to get onto/off the island via a helicopter: Seriously, why would you parachute out of a helicopter otherwise. It seems strange to me that if were just there to rescue the survivors they would have landed or dropped a rope not sent one person.
  4. The “Ship” people are well financed: Two helicopters and a satellite phone? These aren’t cheap

I’m going to waver my guess about the next three seasons based on what we saw last night (although the writers strike will mess that up). In season 4, we will continue to see the lives of the “Oceanic Six” while they try to adapt to their lives after coming off the island but will continue to have problems due to their experience. These flash forwards will slowly fill in the gaps between the time the six returned to civilization and the Jack flash forward. On the island, the two groups that formed last night will continue to have altercations as the ship people want to take them all of the island. During the course of this time Jack’s group will slowly diffuse into Locke’s group and we will end up with the six that get off the island (plus Hurley and maybe Sawyer). The season 4 finale will end with the six leaving the island in real time and the flash forward will get the six together off the island to get back on the island.

I’m really going to go off the wall for the final two seasons. Season 5 will be have flashbacks of what happened to the people left behind on the Island in the time that the six were gone while the six got back to the island to make everything right. I think this will end as the six getting back to the island to find the camp burnt to the ground. Season 6 will involve dealing with whoever is actually the antagonist of this who fiasco. My guess is that the end Jack or Locke will be faced with the decision of killing Jacob.
