Every semester I have at least one teacher that isn’t prepared to teach the class. They show up 15 seconds before the class is supposed to start, they spend five minutes getting ready to start teaching or they look really surprised when the next slide comes up. I have a hard time understanding how this works.

For as large as my tuition bill is every semester it seems like there should be more preparation put into the class. I understand that the professors here have more to do than just teach but I wonder how much time is actually put into getting ready for class. The amount of money that some classes must bring in for the college, that have 400+ students, must be astronomical and the teacher should be ready to present that material when it effects so many students.

I guess from this side this is annoying but I wonder what it’s like to actually have to teach the class. Are teachers a lot like students where they get things done at the last minute too?
