I guess it’s time to look back at my 2008 resolutions and list out my resolutions for 2009. Overall, I think I did poorly and I will have to resolve to finish my resolutions next year.
2008
“Take at least one picture EVERY day”
I did exceptionally well with this resolutions. Except for the five or six days I was so messed up on steroids that I couldn’t get out of bed, I have taken at least on picture every day. Part of me is happy to be done with this because there have been times where I have been laying in bed at 11 o’clock and realized that I forgot to take my picture for the day. I will miss it but most of the pictures that I forced myself to take aren’t my best or even something I would show.
“Write a blog post five times a week”
This was less successful. I won’t even go into how badly I fell off the wagon on this or how quickly.
“Lose weight”
I did fairly well with this resolution and have lost about eight pounds for the year.
“Eat out less”
EPIC FAIL!
“Cook/bake two new things every month”
Success! This was helped by my attempt to become a vegetarian.
2009
While thinking about my resolutions for next year I happened to listen to a podcast on Fresh Air about how easy it is for people to fail at carrying through on their resolutions. They discussed how people pick resolutions that are destined to fail (work out seven days a week, eat no sugar, etc) and have no support network to make sure they are caring through. I’m taking that to heart this year:
Three Blog post a Week
I think three blog posts may be easier for me to handle. This will also be easier if I branch off and form the new sites I’m looking at creating … I guess there will be more on that later.
Work out Three Times a Week
I know that I need to start working out soon or else. I’m going to try and work out something where I workout before work Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays at the very least which means I will be spending more time at the Midland Community Center.
Develop at Least One Alternative Income Stream
I keep reading about how it’s important to have more than one income stream and the events of the past couple months have proved that. I have several ideas bouncing around in my head about potential enterprises that I can work on outside my 9-to-5. I’m looking at either photography or some combination of programming and food.
Loose at Least 10 Pounds and Keep it Off
I think this one speaks for itself. Ideally, I would like to loose 20 but I’m going to shoot low and hope for the best.
One Pop/Soda a Week
Also, self explanatory but I’m shooting for one pop a month by August and zero after November.
