An article on Lifehacker (link) yesterday discusses an article on The Simple Dollar about creating meal exchanges.
On a certain day, everyone in the exchange meets for coffee and brings along a laundry basket full of frozen meals, one for each family, along with any needed instructions taped to the lid. The members of the club just swap the meals so that everyone takes home one of each meal that they didn’t prepare.
As someone who likes to experiment with new foods, I find this concept very interesting but as a vegetarian I wonder if it’s possible for someone like me to participate. I larger cities you might be able to create a vegetarian food swap but cutting out and handling the varieties would be a pain to handle. You would still have to deal with the different varieties of vegetarianism which could be overcome by creating a meal exchange for just ovo-lactos or vegans (although a raw vegetarian food swap seems counter productive). This would continue to decrease the potential members but might be beneficial to everyone. Still it’s a good idea.
Just when I thought I could escape the draw of caffeine someone comes out with pure evil…
Another OK Go video just for you Stephanie.
I’m very intrigued by these marble and ball barring tracks that people create. I almost think it would be a good winter project.
We geeks should do something like this.

One of the things that a customer does every couple months in IT is moving one folder into another. Usually, they don’t know or even realize that they have moved it until the next time they (or someone else) need it. It can be hard to find it when there are a dozen other folders they could have moved it too but this problem is compounded when there are thousands of folders.
I have been messing with PowerShell the last couple weeks in preparation for using PowerCLI to manage our VMware cluster. This was one of the scripts I worked through to help me learn it (the others are suited for print). That being said PowerShell is crazy like perl in how a complex script can be written in two lines so there’s most likely a simpler way to write this. If there is by all means let me know in the comments.

Welcome to the new server!
It’s good to see that my years in IT have finally paid off.
In my push to move away from GoDaddy, I will be moving this blog over to a new server over the next couple days. Hopefully, it will be a seamless transition but you never know what may happen.
After I make a backup I’m going to post a message stating that you are at the old site and any comments posted here won’t be transfered.
See you on the other side.
